With the entire nation captured under the voting fever, I was also feeling quite patriotic. Living in Mumbai, people hardly care of whats going around and I am one of them. But today, a thought crossed my mind, what is it that my city has and what my country wants. What is it that Singapore or Dubai have and Mumbai doesn't. Why is Europe and America favourite destination for holidays as compared to India, especially by Indians.
Our country is so cool that we can do almost anything in our country, absolutely anything. Right from murder someone without any fear to freely beg on the roads. Just imagine the level of freedom we actually have. It's truly our privilege, still we crib about our Nation. Apart from that there is abundance of culture, history, natural beauty, diversity ...etc....you name it and we have it. The people...the language... the food...the clothing. We have innovations and creativity to eternity. Yet our country is not appealing enough.
It definitely lacks the presentation. It is like the best biryani without salt. The missing salt in our nation, the one thing immediately required is cleanliness. The clutter all around is completely dejecting.
Let's imagine, like we have water flowing through pipes, electricity running through wires, why not have an extension to drainage system to throw our household garbage. We don't need to maintain dustbins and have a separate set of people to collect them manually from place to place. Every house can have a pit where they can throw and the garbage will be centrally collected.
We have a good drainage system across the city. Suction fans should be installed at every opening. Whoever throws the garbage.... Zhooop it will be sucked. Same mechanism should be inside the pipes which will pull in all the garbage and push it towards a dumping ground or a recycle plant.
We were always taught in school to keep our surroundings clean. We got marks for this answer and forgot the true value of this teaching. How do we expect our government to place a dustbin were ever we finish eating? We Indians first throw the garbage then think, do I need it and pick it back ..... coz we know, it will be still lying there. With the zhoop zhaap vacuum cleaners in the city, dare anyone will throw anything without thinking twice.
Government has installed a risky setup of cooking gas pipelines across the city then putting vacuum drainage shouldn't be difficult.
Mumbai gets car name plate format changed in 6 months. They get seat beats and helmets compulsory in 1 month then why not all shops put shop names hoardings in a standard format. It will look uniform.
Pass a ban on dirty blue plastics and replace it with green or brown nature colors.
Mumbai is the maya nagri , the enigmatic city. Wish it was CLEANER.

Magnetic Mumbai is true in all sense as it attracts every entrepreneurial person to this city and make more wealth. s With the same magnetism it also attracts people to earn their livelihood from immigrating into the city from smaller towns and cities across the nation and thereby contributing to slum dwelling units across the sky-scrappers. With modernization we have learned to waste more hence dustbins at home, dustbins at outside homes, dustbins at the outside the housing societies, collection bins at the corner of the street and collectively transporting truck bins and finally processing it in the vicinity to add pollutants in the air and contribute to garbage collection cycle.
ReplyDeleteI agree to your idea on Zhoop-line systems to be built around the city but only if we have town planners who can convince the political decision makers, else city will still keep surviving and protects its integrity like a Queen's Necklace.
Creative idea!, do you think it's technically feasible to build such network? I don't think any country has ever done that, even the most developed one.
ReplyDeleteOn a lighter note, I think we already have a toned down version of such system - which is called NALLA (gutter). People throw everything into it expecting it to magically carry it away - I'm not sure if I disagree with that.
I think what we need most is better administration which will handle such things amongst many other important things.
And for that to happen we all have to choose our candidates wisely and undergo the fever - the voting fever!!
